Officer Lewis Hall is charged with conspiracy, bribery, obstruction of justice and making a false statement to investigators.

He pleaded not guilty last month, but is expected to change his plea during a hearing on Feb. 24.

Former Chicago cop pleads guilty to bribery

He is accused of conspiring with someone to pay a fellow officer five thousand dollars to claim a July 29 vehicle search, as part of a scheme to make a cocaine arrest go away.

The U.S. attorney’s office says Hall lied to an FBI agent and said he did not give money to the cooperating officer.

If convicted on all charges, the combined maximum sentence is 40 years in prison and about a million dollars in fines.
