A former high-level official has been charged with bribery, Beijing prosecutors said on Monday.
Beijing No 1 People’s Procuratorate confirmed that Tian Xueren, former executive deputy governor of Jilin province, had been prosecuted, saying he was suspected of receiving bribes of about 20 million yuan ($3.3 million) over 16 years.
Tian was suspected of accepting bribes on 85 occasions. The bribes were believed to involve the running of enterprises and relatives, according to the prosecuting authority.
In July 2012, Tian was placed under investigation and he was prosecuted five months later, the authority added.
