On March 3rd, 2014, the Dixon Police Department, with the assistance of the Amboy Police Department, arrested Nikos M. Kastrinsios, age 42, of 12 North Jones, Amboy, Illinois for Bribery (Class 2 Felony) and Harassment of a Witness (Class 2 Felony). Kastrinsios was arrested at approximately 7:00pm in the Amboy downtown business district.
The arrest on March 3rd, 2014 stems from an arrest of Kastrinsios for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse which occurred in Dixon in January of 2011. In late February of 2014, the Dixon Police Department was alerted to the fact that Kastrinsios had made contact with a witness in the pending criminal trial against him for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse. During the contact with the witness, Kastrinsios attempted to influence the witness into not testifying in the pending criminal trial. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Kastrinsios had offered the witness an undisclosed amount of United States Currency in order for the witness not to testify in the pending criminal trial against Kastrinsios. Kastrinsios was processed and turned over to the Lee County Jail to await bond to be set.
