Section officer at the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DMLI), Shambhu Prasad Chalise, was arrested on Saturday on the charge of receiving Rs 1 million as bribe from a service seeker.
Acting on a tip-off, a special squad deployed from the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) nabbed Chalise near the Siddhipark area at Bhaisepati, Lalitpur at 6 p.m. Saturday.
CIAA spokesperson Sridhar Sapkota informed that Chalise received the money from the service seeker against an assurance to settle a pending case at DMLI.
“We nabbed Chalise near the service seeker´s residence while he was returning after collecting the amount,” Sapkota told Republica. He said CIAA would carry out an investigation soon.
