A patient who has diabetes made her first visit to the neurologist at Detroit’s Henry Ford Hospital for her nerve pain.
“I got checked in and the patient care technician took me to the back,” she says. “He took my vitals and then he asked me to bend over and spread my legs and try to touch the floor. I explained I couldn’t because of back problems and neuropathy. He said he was going to assist me.”
The 42-year-old woman claims the patient care technician did much more than that, standing behind her and placing his erect penis against her backside. She says he then started to grope her.
“I’m thinking this is a procedure for him to go back to the doctor to tell him my pain level,” she says. “He pulled up the back of my dress and started to massage my inner thighs and started touching my private areas.”
The patient says she pushed the care tech’s hand away and told him no. She says the care tech said her name three times and then left.
“I was just startled and scared,” she remembers.
“The administrator took me into one of the exam rooms and asked me for a statement. I gave her a statement of what had happened to me, and she said that she was going to contact Human Resources and she offered me gas cards,” she says. “I couldn’t believe that she would offer me a gas card instead of bringing security around, or even having him apprehended.”
Fox 2 contacted Henry Ford Hospital about the allegations. We received this statement, “We will investigate promptly and thoroughly this accusation, working with law enforcement.”
The woman decided to speak out now because she’s concerned, and is concerned if this happened to her there may be other victims out there, too.
Police tells Fox 2 they are investigating.
