A police officer in Puerto Rico has been charged with bribery and intimidating a witness for allegedly seeking sex from a 22-year-old woman in exchange for dropping a charge against her.
Justice officials said in a statement Wednesday that officer Jose Angel Quinones Rodriguez performed a breathalyzer on the woman after she was involved in a car accident in March. Authorities allege Quinones appeared at the woman’s house a couple of weeks later saying he could drop the case if she had sex with him.
Quinones was ordered held on an $8,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 2. It was not immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
