Judge jailed for taking bribe

corruptionbribery October 27, 2014 0

A judge has been imprisoned for four years and fined SR200,000 for reportedly accepting SR2 million in bribes from a citizen involved in a forgery and bribery case, local media said.

Over 30 principals found guilty in bribery scandal

The judge allegedly accepted the bribe in exchange for suspending a ruling against the man, an allegation that was vehemently denied by the defendant, who described it as “a plot between the man and his lawyers,” a local daily reported.

The Court of Appeal upheld the ruling, issued by the Administrative Court in Riyadh.
The judge, who had been in service for 25 years, was arrested by investigators from the Bureau of Control and Investigation (BCI), after the man who offered the bribe reported it, the daily said.
