Two employees of the Attica Regional Authority were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly accepting bribes.
The two men, responsible for hygiene checks on bars and eateries, were arrested after accepting marked banknotes from the owner of an establishment in Kapandriti, northern Attica.
Authorities did not give further details.
The regional authority said that it will offer its full cooperation to root out corrupt employees.
“The Attica Regional Authority regards stamping out corruption as a priority,” it said in a statement.
“It undermines the public administration’s functioning, shows contempt for civil servants’ work and works against citizens’ interests.”
