A Kentucky prison employee was arrested Sunday on suspicion of bribery and drug trafficking after an undercover investigation.
Robert A. Massie, 45, of LaGrange, was charged with bribery, official misconduct, trafficking in methamphetamines and unspecified drug trafficking.
The Kentucky Department of Corrections said Massie was working as a maintenance and operations technician for Luther Luckett Correctional Complex. He was hired in 2011.
The DOC Internal Affairs branch began investigating Friday based on suspicion Massie was introducing contraband into the prison.
That investigation revealed Massie had been bringing narcotics and other dangerous contraband into LLCC, according to the DOC.
Louisville Metro Police narcotics detectives said they set up an undercover meeting with Massie, who took what he believed to be $1,000 in cash, an ounce of methamphetamine and 200 tablets of generic suboxone.
Massie was supposed to smuggle the drugs into the prison.
Police said they have an audio recording of the sting operation.
Massie admitted to five other occasions of bribery for contraband, according to his citation.
The Oldham County Police Department served a search warrant at his Oldham County home, where they found two guns and some marijuana, according to the citation.
Massie is being held on a $10,000 bond at Louisville Metro Corrections. He was arraigned Monday morning, when a judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
