Sharjah Police arrested two Asians who impersonated police officials and used this as a means to con their victims.
The two suspects conned another Asian national, who is wanted by the police, alleging that they will drop the case against him if he paid them. Officials at the CID of the Eastern Area were tipped off about the illicit activity of the duo.
The suspect believed their claims and he was going to pay them Dhs5,000 to drop the case against him, and they agreed to meet at a certain location where the money would be handed over.
Upon confirming the information, a CID team was formed to unveil more details about the case and arrested the suspects before they completed the transaction.
The suspects confessed to their crimes and will be referred to the Public Prosecution.
Sharjah Police urges people to be very cautious while dealing with strangers to avoid falling prey to fraudulent claims.
Any person alleging he is a police official must show his police ID.
